To Enhance Midtown Savannah's walkability, create accessible green spaces, and promote sustainable urban development.
Roots: Savannah Midtown Rebrand
Team Project including Antonia Cifuentes, Max Bloom, Amber Smith, Rebecca Woessner, and Izzy Castellanos.
"Roots" is a collaborative urban design and planning project that reimagines the Midtown Savannah area through the lens of sustainability, community connectivity, and long-term ecological resilience. Developed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of Antonia Cifuentes, Max Bloom, Amber Smith, Rebecca Woessner, and Izzy Castellanos, the initiative proposes a revitalization of the neighborhood that not only prioritizes environmental stewardship but also fosters a more inclusive, accessible, and vibrant urban experience.
At the heart of the Roots project is a commitment to transforming Midtown into a pedestrian-first environment. By redesigning key infrastructure to reduce vehicle dependency, the proposal seeks to enhance walkability, support local businesses, and encourage active modes of transportation such as biking and walking. Streetscapes are reimagined with widened sidewalks, green buffers, and shaded corridors, creating a safe and comfortable environment for residents and visitors alike.
